Green Light Switch
City street lights in most locations are currently controlled by time of day or by detection of daylight. When they are on, they run at full brightness whether or not there is a need. Pro-active projects are in place to reduce the power consumed by these lights when there is no need for them to be turned on at their full power.
CDSI makes a Green Light Switch that detects the presence of people or automobiles in its immediate vicinity and provides that information to intelligent light controllers to that brightly illuminate the street or sidewalk for safety when needed, and otherwise “loiter” at low intensity, thereby significantly reducing energy consumption.
Recent tests conducted by an independent organization in a residential neighborhood has shown that significant amounts of electrical energy can be saved through this approach. For information or questions, please contact Anand at firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
